P N G Rosewood/Narra (Pterocarpus indicus)

It’s actually a Padauk specie and not a Rosewood at all. It lacks the strong colours associated with either. It’s lovely wood all the same, with good workability, stability and the right sort of density for cabinet making purposes.

Easy to work with both hand and machine tools, one of Narra’s only downsides is that it has a moderate blunting effect on cutters. Narra turns, glues, and finishes well.

Our turning blanks are carefully selected by our expert staff. The quality control inspection ensures our blanks are split and shake free. Every blank has hot wax applied to the end grain and edges to prevent end splitting through the drying process. This ensures your finished object will be stable when brought into a centrally heated environment.
