Timber Shingles

Western Red Cedar Shingles

Western Red Cedar Shingles

Western Red Cedar shingles have a smooth, uniform appearance and are a unique and attractive reddish-brown colour. They are durable, lightweight, stable and environmentally friendly making them a sought-after alternative to traditional roof and wall tiles.

Standard Western Red Cedar Shingles

These shingles are sawn (taper), random width, mixed edge flat grains and bevelled at butt. We recommend a 3-ply cladding on roofs and walls.

Shingle lengths (mm) Approx. thickness (mm)
600 12
450 10 or 15
400 10

Coverage

The type of wood, shingle length, method of laying, weather exposure and desired covering density should be taken into consideration when making calculations.

Please note: shingles are supplied in random widths and the packs calculated for a given coverage. The shingles should be used ‘as they come’, packs should not be sorted for widths.

Roof – shingles should be laid 3-ply

Exterior façade/wall – shingles should be laid 2-ply to 3-ply

Interior wall – shingles can be laid 2-ply
