The perfect combination of form and function
Our exceptional oak and Douglas Fir pergolas and gazebos will complement their surroundings in any style of garden; adding form, structure, beauty and height. They are perfect if you want to create a secluded seating area for relaxing or entertaining, add a focal point to your garden/patio, provide a hot tub enclosure, reduce the impact of an unsightly wall or fence or establish a spectacular walkway covered in climbers.
Solid timber pergolas - bespoke sizes and designs or standard kits
All of our pergolas are constructed in carefully selected green European Oak or English Douglas Fir, and we also offer oak gazebo kits in range of styles and dimensions. The timber we use is sustainably sourced. We are able to source FSC and PEFC certified timber for projects if required, just let us know at the start of the project. We are a Timber Development UK Responsible Purchaser. When you buy from us, you’re buying timber that has passed strict quality guidelines. Combining high quality timber with expert craftmanship and traditional methods of preparation and construction, our pergolas and gazebos will stand the test of time and enhance any property.

It is important that you use stainless steel or galvanised screws, as the tannic acid in the oak will quickly corrode iron and leave black streaks down your pergola/gazebo. It is recommended that you use one screw on the end of each cross member to hold it to the frame. Fixings can be supplied on request.
-
If you have to store your pergola/gazebo kit before you’re able to have it assembled, please try to keep it somewhere dry and protected. We strongly recommend that you do not store the kit for longer than 4 weeks as joints may become misaligned and harder to assemble due to moisture reduction over the time period.
One of the biggest benefits that comes with our pergola and gazebo kits is that they are primed for swift assembly. By crafting each kit using traditional jointing techniques, it allows either professional tradespeople or experienced home DIYers the opportunity to build the pergola. We would recommend a few helping hands to get your project underway, as the solid oak posts are heavy and therefore will be difficult to lift and fix into position without help.
-
You can leave your pergola or gazebo untreated. If you wish to treat the timber, do contact our expert team for advice as regards suitable products.

Green (fresh sawn) oak beams are a classic choice for timber-framed buildings across the UK. Freshly cut from the log, these beams have a high moisture content, making them easier to work with than air-dried oak, which can be exceptionally hard and can blunt tools.
Green oak is particularly suited for cutting joints and peg holes, as it's easier to shape before natural cracking begins.
Strength and Durability
At WL West, our green oak beams offer exceptional strength, durability, and high resistance to decay, all without the need for chemical treatments—making them both maintenance-free and environmentally friendly.
Responsibly sourced from managed woodlands in France, each beam is crafted to high standards at our sawmill in Sussex. As the beams dry slowly, they adjust naturally over time, making them ideal for structures that allow for slight movement and shrinkage.
Grade and Finish
Our structural green oak beams are graded QP1 with a sawn finish, ensuring quality and consistency. (QP1 Sawn may have some black stain, knots and checking included in the grade)
Please select your finish from the dropdown
Planed finish will be 165-170mm square
Sizing
Green oak beams are supplied marginally over length, in line with standard industry practice, allowing you to cut down to precise measurements on-site. Each sawn beam has a tolerance of 5mm.
Please note that freshly sawn beams will gradually shrink in width and thickness, and natural surface cracks may develop over time, enhancing their rustic character.
For custom sizes, please contact our Sales Team for a personalised quote.
