WOOD MACHINIST REQUIRED
W L West & Sons Ltd are a well-established family owned and run hardwood timber company based in Selham between Midhurst & Petworth, West Sussex, GU28 0PJ.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Wood Machinist to join our team. Ideally with an existing knowledge of woodworking machines.
We have an extensive woodworking machine workshop that has various machines including 4 sided planer, 7 headed profile moulder, wide sander, crosscut and band saws, multirip saws, spindle moulder and CNC machines. Many of our machines are computer based, so the ability to operate computer based machines is a requirement. Added to that the use of a variety of hand power tools.
We are looking for a machinist to operate the various machines as required to meet customer orders. The majority of the work will be with hardwoods and specialist softwoods. A high proportion of the work is bespoke, so the work is varied.
The job will include manufacture and construction of customer orders as well, for example; worktops and bar tops, table tops, benches, ledged and braced doors, bespoke entrance gates, simple fresh sawn structures. A knowledge of timber species is a benefit, experience with woodworking machines is required.
The successful candidate will be working in a small team, a flexible attitude is required to be able to switch around the various jobs as required to ensure we meet our customers requirements. A contentious and caring approach to work.
This position is fulltime and permanent.
Hours are 7:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
Holiday is 23 days in addition to national holidays. We have a close down across the Christmas-New Year period. Pensions are in-line with current legislation.
There will be a 6 month trial period, and the rate will be comsensurate with experience.
