Wood Turning Courses

We are now able to offer woodturning courses at our site in Selham. A new teaching facility has been built.

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - REFRESHER

Our courses are friendly and informative and tutored by Gary Renouf. They are designed to give the beginner a structured introduction in the craft of woodturning and to show what can be achieved with basic tools and equipment.

The intermediate course carries on where the basic course ended it is intended for turners who have previous experience in turning or have attended our beginners course and wish to expand their skills.

The refresher course is targeted at those who may have run out of time for wood turning some years ago, and now wish to brush up their skills.

At the end of each course you will leave with 2 pieces of finished work which you have turned.

Profile of Gary Renouf

Gary has worked for W.L.West & Sons for nearly six years as part of the sales team. Prior to that he had experience in the building supply trades and trained in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom furnishing industry. Educated locally in Hampshire, Gary has a wide range of interests from golf to cooking.

But probably his greatest passion is Woodturning. He is a very accomplished woodturner with two lathes, a Record CL3/48 for spindle and miniature work and a VB36 Master Bowl Turner for all other work in his own workshop at home, a workshop which also contains a number of other woodworking machinery.

His passion for woodturning is infectious and has the ability to pass his passion on to others. He has been selling his products through a local gallery for some years. He is aiming to apply for membership of the Register of Professional Woodturners during 2007.

He will very quickly pass his passion for woodturning onto you.
