Environmental Policy
It is everyone’s responsibility to be conscious of, and considerate for the environment. Timber is a renewable resource and properly managed is a good and versatile material to use, both for recreational purposes and for conversion to timber products. A balance between these activities is imperative.
This company fully understands its responsibility to the environment, its customers, suppliers and staff to base the company activities on supply from well-managed forests. W.L.West & Sons Ltd is committed in maintaining a chain of custody system to supply certified timber in accordance with the FSC & PEFC certification standards.
FSC
W.L.West & Sons Ltd will not trade in timbers, which are illegal to do so. It will not trade, knowingly in timber from poorly managed forests.
This company is certificated under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody scheme. The scope for certification is: The Purchasing, Sawmilling, Processing, Sales and Distribution of FSC Endorsed Hardwoods and Softwoods. This covers the company for: Hardwood and Softwood Sawn Boards, Square-Edged Boards, Fencing and Gate Products, Manufactured Products, Doors and Flooring. Raw material or products bought from certified sources.
Our Certification number is: TT-COC-1710.
PEFC
W.L.West & Sons Ltd also hold Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody certification for The Purchasing, Sawmilling, Processing, Sales and Distribution of PEFC Endorsed Hardwoods and Softwoods. This covers the company for: Hardwood and Softwood Sawn Boards, Square-Edged Boards, Fencing and Gate Products, Manufactured Products, Doors and Flooring. Raw material or products bought from certified sources.
Our certification number is: BMT-PEFC-0289
W.L.West & Sons Ltd were formerly licenced members of the ‘WOODMARK’ scheme in June 1995 and our Licence number was 176. This scheme was an initiative by the Forest Industries Development Council, and certified that British timber used by the company has been felled in accordance with the regulations operated and licenced by the Forestry Authority. This scheme has been discontinued with effect from September 2004.
W.L.West & Sons Ltd is also a member of the Forests Forever initiative led by the Timber Trades Federation.
It is W.L.West & Sons Ltd aim to practise continuous improvement in all aspects of the business we are part of.
