Woodworking machines on view NOW! Come and see them

We are always looking for new products to offer you. You may have noticed on this web site our advert for RECORD POWER and STARTRITE.

We have now been stocking Record Power products for a year, and they have been very popular. To enable you all to see the products more easily, we have been busy re-arranging the shop.

There is now a room dedicated to Record machines. Record are launching eight new products shortly, and you will be able to see some of them in the new showroom.

Recor Power Days - 25 & 26 October

You will also be able to see much of the range at our RECORD POWER days on Thursday 25 & Friday 26 October 2007. We are working with Record Power to bring you a showcase of their machines, from band saws to planer/thicknessers.

Demonstrations will take place with some of the machines.

Trade Woodworking Machines

The Startrite range of machines is aimed at the trade. Although currently we do not stock Startrite machines, we can supply them, and supply advice via the Record Power team, but it is our intention to have some of our team trained on these products very soon.

Hand Power Tools on stock - soon!

Dewalt and Black & Decker. To further bolster the ranges of machines and power tools that are available through us, we will shortly be stocking a range of DeWalt and Black & Decker hand power tools. Well known for trade and home respectively, these products will be very competitively priced.

Items that are not stocked will be available in 2-3 days generally. Our whole range of tools is being reviewed and expanded. Pay a visit in the coming months, we are sure you will find something to interest you.

New computing comes to WESTS - your help is needed

We will shortly be embarking on a project to replace our current computer system with an up to date system. We have placed an order with Progressive Solutions for BizTrack. This product has been developed from systems used in Canada, and is currently used by many timber and related industries in the UK.

The system will enable all of our teams to have a better information system at their finger tips and improve the order taking system. The accounts part of the system will ensure that our customers’ and suppliers’ information is easily accessible. To ensure that we have a smooth changeover (stop laughing all of you techies), we would appreciate it if you would advise us if we have any of your company’s information incorrect. It is important to us that we have as accurate information, about all of you, as possible.

We were well and truely Rafted!!

What a Raft Race!!. August Bank Holiday Sunday saw the 26th running of the Rother Raft Race and the 10th year that W.L.West & Sons Ltd have sponsored this event.

There were early fears that this year would have a low turnout of rafts, thankfully that was not the case and we saw 50 rafts meet the challenge, in bright and hot sunshine. The event aims to raise a significant amount for charity. It majors on Cancer charities, but it also supports other local charities such as the Guide & Scout movement. This years beneficiaries included St Richards Hospital Cancer Day Unit appeal, The Rosemary Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Care and the 1st Birdham and Wittering Scout Troup. There were some very colourful rafts with a lot of thought and effort in the themes. One of the greatest efforts in fundraising this year must be St Dicks Chicks, who were raising funds for the St Richards Hospital Cancer Day Care Unit appeal, based in Chichester. They raised a phenomenal £3500+.

There is always room for more rafts so if you are tempted to take part next year put Sunday 24 August 2008 in your diaries now, and remember to get an entry form a month before this. You can contact us or look on www.rotherraftrace.co.uk for entry forms.
