Macmillan Rother Raft Race - Special

The 23rd MacMillan Rother Raft Race took place on the Sunday of August bank Holiday 2004, an event that W.L.West & Sons Ltd have sponsored for some years. After a disasterous year in 2003 when the number of rafts were down to 40, it was pleasing that 68 rafts took part this year, with a variety of rafts of all shapes and sizes. It was great to see that there was a large amount of new faces taking part and a lot of younger people, these people will hopefully be the future of the subsequent raft races.

All the profits of the race go to local charities, with the Midhurst Branch of the MacMillan Cancer Charity being the main beneficiary. This year in the region of £6500 has been taken, this is a spectacular result. Easebourne Scout do a sterling job feeding everyone and they are another beneficiary. Almost everyone is affected by Cancer in some way, and this is a great way to support this great charity. We know the organisers are over the moon with the response from this years race and hope they receive even more entries next year.

RRR Tee Shirts have been seen in many colours and in many places through the years, the colour is chosen by W.L.West & Sons Ltd.  Recently one of the WLW team was speaking to a supplier who commented that he had seen someone wearing one of our shirts. Our team member didn't think anything of it until it was pointed out that it was in Cuba!!!!! Our shirts certainly get around.
